Sacred Tobacco Traditions from the Amazon Basin

15-Day Mapacho Plant Dieta

Sacred Tobacco Traditions from the Amazon Basin

~ Notes from the Jungle ~

In silence, one’s true voice can be heard. In isolation, the true self is met. The silence—rich with magic—whispers through the stillness. My voice arises, and companionship is felt. In the depths of humility, I remember new horizons of gratitude, courage, strength, and reverence.

I am humbled by your teachings, Mapacho—curandero, mi amigo. Your insatiable appetite for spirit inspires, challenges, and teaches as only a master teacher can. I honor you with reverence and gratitude. I bow to your spirit and the lessons you continue to weave through me.

The teachings I received during this dieta were unlike any other. It began on the Winter Solstice, under the dark night of a new moon in the Amazon Basin. The first five days were spent in silent isolation, broken only at sunset by the arrival of Maestro David, who carried the pint of Mapacho medicine. At sunset, I drank—one full cup in a single breath. For three nights this ritual continued, and within its depths, I was met by the Spirit of Mapacho, whos ancient teachings continue to unfold in my daily life, guiding me into deeper states of being.

And always, there is humor—the unexpected gift of the master plants, whose laughter is as potent a medicine as their teachings. It is a joy I cherish, one I carry forward with gratitude.

Gracias, Maestro David, for the sacred container you hold in the motherland of these plants.

Gracias, Mapacho.

Gracias, Ayahuasca.
